There’s something genuinely magical about stepping in off the street, into the antique warehouse, and down a wide hallway, and discovering an expansive space, open to the sky, with Manuela on one end, spilling into the courtyard.

Our Story

Located in the Arts District of Los Angeles, Manuela unites chef, farmer and artist to create an authentic and original dining experience. Under the direction of Executive Chef Kris Tominaga, the menu celebrates seasonal ingredients sourced from the best farms and producers in Southern California.

Serving a wide range of vegetables, grains, fish, and game, Manuela also features an exemplary bar program, which serves classic cocktails using house-made bitters and tonics. Local beers are on tap, while the carefully selected wine list is designed to pair with the smoke and acid at the heart of Manuela’s menu.

Designed by Los Angeles native Matt Winter and named for Manuela Wirth, the restaurant is illuminated and animated by specially commissioned works from artists Paul McCarthy, Mark Bradford and Raymond Pettibon.

About Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles

Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles is a destination at the heart of the burgeoning Downtown Arts District of Los Angeles, the gallery is located at 901 East 3rd Street. It occupies the restored Globe Mills complex, a collection of interconnected late 19th- and early 20th century-buildings and internal outdoor spaces that have been adapted by Creative Space, Los Angeles, in consultation with Annabelle Selldorf, Selldorf Architects. Here visitors will discover museum-caliber exhibitions as well as public programs and educational activities that contextualize the art on view for diverse audiences.

Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles complements its exhibition program with the first ARTBOOK store in Los Angeles; a gallery space for Hauser & Wirth Publishers’ Book & Printed Matter Lab; the restaurant, Manuela; a planting garden; murals that engage the architecture of the complex; and an expansive open-air courtyard, where visitors will find sculpture as well as a spot for quiet contemplation and informal gathering.

The Private Dining Room is the perfect space for a small, intimate gathering and can seat up to 14 people. A beautiful room modeled as a traditional glasshouse with views out onto the central sculpture courtyard of Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles. Manuela asks reservations larger than 11 guests to chose from our family style menu options during lunch, brunch and dinner.

Specially commissioned for the Private Dining Room, Raymond Pettibon has painted a large-scale mural in a continuation of his early Vavoom series. Taking a fictional mountain landscape as its subject matter the composition is reminiscent of a Swiss pastoral scene, harking to the heritage of the restaurant’s namesake.

Plan a private event at Manuela. From a garden party surrounded by homegrown herbs, vegetables and flowers to a whole restaurant takeover or something a little more bespoke, Manuela can cater for groups of 20 to 900 guests.

Manuela has an exclusive catering contract with Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles for all third party events. Special events are subject to the permitting laws of the City of LA and approval from Fire Marshal. Full terms and conditions available upon request.
